Last year, we welcomed over 300 runners to Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, to take part in a unique 5K run around the home of England Rugby. Spirits were high, hats and gloves were on in the chilly January air, and runners took to the concourse to raise vital funds for the RFU Injured Players Foundation, England Rugby's official charity.
The local community turned out in force, and among the sound of trainers on tarmac were conversations between friends and strangers meeting for the first time. All shared a common connection: they were here, supporting charity, and getting some steps in!
One such runner was IPF member Hamish, who aptly described the event as 'relaxed and enjoyable.' His highlights were "reaching the top of the stadium and getting glimpses from the fourth or fifth level of the golden pitch with the lights shining on it, and of course crossing the finishing line pitch-side."
So why should you take part in an event to support the IPF?
Hamish says "In my mind, the IPF really is the no. 1 rugby charity when it comes to supporting players from all levels of the game, including amateur players like me, who have sustained a life-changing injury while playing rugby in this country.”
Or, as summed up in the words of Andrew, who travelled all the way up from Portsmouth to participate in the 5K, having enjoyed last year’s event so much: “It’s a fantastic event, supporting very worthy causes” he said. “It’s a brilliant atmosphere at an amazing venue. You can’t fault it really.”
We are delighted to announce that the next Stadium 5K will be taking place on the 6th January 2027. Not only that, but we have an exclusive discount code for our IPF community, which will get you a 20% discount! Simply enter the code IPF20% when booking.
