Students from Sussex University’s Men’s RFC have raised a massive £15,955 this year in support of the RFU Injured Players Foundation!

After teammate Harry Langley needed the support of the RFU IPF following a life changing rugby injury, each season university players take part in a series of fundraising events culminating in the Brighton Half Marathon.

From raffles and karaoke nights to sponsored hair shaving and running the Brighton Half Marathon in fancy dress. The creativity of the students has enabled them to beat last year’s fundraising total despite COVID cutting this year’s rugby season short.

Alongside the students’ tenacity, a key factor in their success is the club’s commitment to striving to be the best they can be on the pitch and in society, with their fundraising being firmly apart of their membership conditions.

Said Stephanie Giles, RFU Fundraising Coordinator, ‘The Sussex Men’s University Rugby Team are a fantastic fundraising force and a pleasure to work with. I’ve really enjoyed hearing about the different ways they are fundraising. They are a great role models for how university students can support the charity, and we can’t wait to see what fundraising ideas they do next!’

Thank you to everyone involved!
