The RFU Injured Players Foundation, the official charity of England Rugby, works to enable its members to live the life they wish to lead. In order to help deliver on this aim, the charity has been working with The OT Practice to provide occupational therapy support to members with more complex injuries.
The OT Practice is a clinician-led organisation which provides private occupational therapy to a broad range of clients across the charitable, business and private sectors. Having over 350 trained occupational therapists (OTs) across the country, supported by a 40-strong office staff, the organisation puts clients at the heart of its work, supporting them to work towards their own personal goal with their trained OT.
This philosophy helps drive the relationship with the IPF given the synergies in ensuring that the support provided is member-led and that the needs of our members are central to any support we provide.
The OT Practice held their annual awards ceremony this year at The Allianz Stadium in Twickenham where they recognised some of their longest serving colleagues and celebrated the organisation’s successes.
Caroline Searight, IPF’s Client Services Manager commented: “We have been working with The OT Practice for the last eighteen months now and the support they offer our members is crucial in ensuring they are able to live the life they wish to lead.
“With occupational therapists across the country we are able to provide this support in a timely manner to our members regardless of location and without having to navigate lengthy waiting times.
“We were so delighted that they celebrated their recent annual awards with us at The Allianz Stadium in Twickenham and we’re looking forward to working more closely with them moving forwards.”
Chris Hall, Operations Director (Clinical Services) at The OT Practice added: “The OT Practice and IPF continue to work together, ensuring that IPF members receive the expert and timely Occupational Therapy input they require.
“From working with IPF members, we have been able to see how transformative Occupational Therapy can be, allowing members to navigate challenges and achieve goals they would not otherwise have been able to. Successful outcomes have been wide-ranging including personalised and specific housing and equipment adaptations, complex seating and postural solutions and work-related adaptations, all promoting functional independence and positive wellbeing of IPF members.
“At the Allianz Stadium we recently held our Long Service Lunch and Awards Ceremony to honour the dedication, hard work, and expertise of our exceptional Occupational Therapists who have been with us for many years, with some celebrating over a decade of service. The awards presentation celebrated not only years of service but also highlighted the impact that many of The OT Practice dedicated Occupational Therapists have on clients and colleagues alike. Throughout the event, the team shared experience and insights of Occupational Therapy and highlighted the amazing successes we have achieved with clients. One standout example was how a client achieved an extraordinary aspiration: to climb a mountain. The OT saw this goal as an opportunity to inspire and engage her client, integrating it into their core interventions alongside his support team. Then earlier this summer, almost two years after they first met, this OT and her client successfully climbed Mount Snowden together!”
