The Murrayfield Injured Players’ Foundation provides assistance to injured Scottish rugby players in Scotland and is financially and administratively independent. Since its inception, it has assisted a number of players with short or longer-term injuries.

The Irish Rugby Charity was formed in 1978 to assist severely injured Irish rugby players in Ireland in their everyday lives, and help to restore their confidence and independence.

The Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust supports any Welsh rugby players and their families who have been severely injured whilst playing rugby football in Wales.

The New Zealand Rugby Foundation the Foundation’s focus is exclusively on the game’s catastrophically injured players in New Zealand, those we term our Very Injured Players (VIPs).

Restart Rugby provides financial and practical support to professional players and their families during difficult times, including help with the cost of medical treatment, rehabilitation equipment, counselling, education and career transition.

Aspire provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, supporting them from injury to independence.

Spinal Injury Network is one of the most comprehensive spinal cord injury website resources around. Everything you need to know about spinal cord injuries and paralysis all in one easy to access site.

Fit to Work is designed to support people in work with health conditions and help with sickness absence. Being in work is an important contributor to good health.

Bladder and Bowel Community is the UK wide organisation for people with bladder and bowel control problems. B&BC provides information and support services, including a confidential helpline, for anyone affected by these conditions as well as their families, carers and healthcare professionals.

Back up Trust is a national charity dedicated to inspiring people affected by spinal cord injuries to get the most out of life. They have put together some advice on issues relating to spinal cord injury. 

Support for clubs, family and friends

It can be very difficult for clubs, family and friends of injured players to come to terms with what has happened. There is lots of support out there for you.

Carers Trust believe in a world where the role and contribution of unpaid carers is recognised and they have access to the quality support and services they need to live their own lives.

Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Your GP will be able to point you in the right direction for support groups in your area.

Your Local Authority will be able to advise you on any concerns you have as well as benefits and safeguarding issues.

Child Bereavement UK - help children and young people (up to age 25), parents, and families, to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. They also provide training to professionals, equipping them to provide the best possible care to bereaved families.

Cruse Bereavement Care - offer support, advice and information to children, young people and adults when someone dies.
