Scarborough youngsters back RU charity

YOUNGSTERS playing in the second Breakaway Sports Tours Scarborough Rugby Union Festival on April 23/25 will be supporting the Rugby Football Union's Injured Players Foundation with a cheque for £1,100.

The promoters have agreed to donate £1 from every booking to the IPF and with just over 1,100 children from Under 7/12 and Under 15 girls already registered, the charity is set to receive a handsome contribution towards its work.

The Scarborough club's magnificent new £4 million premises are being used for the first time for this three-day rugby jamboree, with the Parachute Regiment's Free Fall Display Team adding an extra dimension to proceedings.

"We're very grateful for the support the festival organisers and their customers are providing," says Dave Phillips from the IPF: "We are an organisation which relies on donations and it's especially gratifying that this contribution comes via a group of young people who'll be having a wonderful rugby weekend while supporting the work of the Foundation."

The Rugby Football Union Injured Players Foundation (IPF) is a charity that looks after anyone who sustain s a catastrophic injury whilst playing rugby in England and also has a valuable role in the prevention and management of injuries.
