Grants

The Foundation is notified of players who receive injuries through the RFU's Injury Reporting process. When someone is catastrophically injured, the RFU Injured Player Welfare Officer will contact the family of the person involved and offer initial help with travel and other expenses to visit the player in hospital and support them through their recovery and rehabilitation.

After this initial period; there are two basic ways to apply for funding which are detailed below. For further information and advice, or for any help completing the application forms, please contact Katie Lister on 0800 783 1518 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Small Grant Applications

Each individual can apply for small essential items at any time throughout the year using our short "small grant" application form. The limit on applications that can be granted this way is £2,000 per year. If any individual needs funding for larger items, or has already reached this limit, the large grant application process must be followed.

Large Grant Applications

This requires a more detailed application and assessment process. Whilst there is no limit on the amount applied for, our normal maximum grant is £20,000. This can be applied for in advance of work being done or a purchase being made. The charity can pledge the funds so that the purchase can be planned. Large Grant application forms can be obtained by contacting Katie Lister on 0800 783 1518 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

All grant applications will be acknowledged within 5 working days Small grant applications (up to £2,000) will be decided on and notified within 14 working days; Large grant aplications for up to £20,000 will be decided on and notified within 6-8 weeks. Large grant applications for more than £20,000 will need to be put to the full board of trustees and as such a decision will be notified within 3 months.
