The Foundation is notified of players who receive injuries through the RFU's Injury Reporting process. When someone is catastrophically injured, the RFU Injured Player Welfare Officer will contact the family of the person involved and offer initial help with travel and other expenses to visit the player in hospital and support them through their recovery and rehabilitation.
Each individual can apply for small essential items at any time throughout the year using our short "small grant" application form. The limit on applications that can be granted this way is £2,000 per year. If any individual needs funding for larger items, or has already reached this limit, the large grant application process must be followed.
Please note: The charity has funded a wide variety of needs and each application is considered on an individual basis. Dependant on individual circumstances, the charity may part or fully fund requests. Large grants have to be approved by the charity's grant making committee and, if over £20,000, the full Board of Trustees. Decisions can take up to three months to process.
All grant applications will be acknowledged within 5 working days Small grant applications (up to £2,000) will be decided on and notified within 14 working days; Large grant aplications for up to £20,000 will be decided on and notified within 6-8 weeks. Large grant applications for more than £20,000 will need to be put to the full board of trustees and as such a decision will be notified within 3 months.
